Cut, Cut, cut :: Sneak Peak

Cutting, cutting, cutting. Feels like it will never end. The excitement to bring new prints to the shop keep me going. I am even bringing back a few old favorites as well. One of my favorite new prints, I have actually had for awhile but was inspired to make something with it after filling a custom order for a fabric junkie buddy.

As I sat today in the cafe with Sophia. I thought up a super cute new item for my shop to. I was going to head out tonight and gather supplies to really get crackin on it, but wouldn't you know that we had out first snowfall today.
Sophia was still with amazement as she watched the white flakes float down. This was the first time she has seen the snow.

Here is a little sneak peak on what is coming to the shop, I know not much of a clue (I have quite a few copycats who read the blog) but I hope that it turns out just the way I am thinking it. This was as far as I got for a few reasons. I am the kind of person that when making a pattern, I tend to measure according to my supplies i.e. for example I bought the notebook and crayons first, to measure my numbers to make my crayon wallets. (does that even make sense?)

I am super excited to be able to add touches of my favorite prints to the new items, as well as using my brand new circle cutter that I LOVE!!!!

The best part about this new product, is that when I introduce it, I am going to let all of you pick the name of it. More to come, I am going to sit at my machine and watch the snow fall.

Just a little "LOVE"

Christmas Eve, I craved my sewing machine. Can you believe that? After the long hours sitting at it trying to fill orders for Christmas, I actually wanted to sew on my day off. Only not something that I had already made. I wanted something NEW! I also wanted to use that lovely stack of Amy Butler that just came in.
I wanted so badly to join in the scarf along over at Joys' Hope, but just couldn't fit it into my schedule. I decided that even though I was late, I was still going to make one. So I did, only I made the Cookie Monday's version with a little patchwork twist on the back. I really think it gave it that extra ZING....
I "LOVE" how it turned out. I think more of these are in my future.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas, and is ready to welcome in the new year.
**This scarf was gifted to a dear friend just in time for Christmas.**

For reference since I didn't exactly use the pattern given by Cookie Mondays. Here are the dimensions I used.

Strips 1.75" x WOF sew 5 together.
After you have a strip approx. 6.5" x WOF
Cut into 6.5 x 6.5 inch blocks then arrange them in opposite directions.
Use as many blocks as you need for desired length.
For the patchwork I didn't use a specific measurement I just used the leftovers from my strips that did not quite make a 6.5 inch block then centered it on the flannel for the backing.

Please feel free to ask any questions if you would like to make one.

Merry Christmas to me

So I know that Christmas is right around the bend, but I wanted to share this with you even thought it wasn't really for Christmas. My super cute pincushion from Cindy arrived today, and Om Goodness I love it. I didn't hesitate for a second to take all my pins out of the little turtle I got on etsy months ago. (it's now a toy/decoration) Also My stack of fabric that I forgot that I had ordered came as well.

Even though I am not real fond of all the prints in Amy Butlers new "LOVE" collection. I must have been when I heard about it because I bought a yard of the whole line on pre-order... Then forgot about it. Until today when half of it arrived in my mailbox with some other yummy goodness. Now I am in fact "IN LOVE" I just had to share. Dont you just love it when you forget about something and then it surprises you at the perfect time.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas.....

My Blog friends gave to me... Some beautiful hand dyed beauties.

Good Morning Sew- Fantastic Readers. Need some Eye candy this Saturday Morning?
I wanted to introduce you to a super talented friend of mine named Zarina.
Zarina is from Klang Valley Malaysia, where she works as a network planner in a mobile operator. Like most of us, her crafting is done late at night, until the wee hours of the morning making beautiful hand dyed/painted fabrics and threads .

Zarina stops by to tell us what inspires her talent.

Zarina; What inspires me for all sorts of projects and celebrations are a whole bunch of colors coming together. Colors are the one that gives character to the fabric/project. Unfortunately, here in Malaysia we have colors but is not translated well in the fabric or yarn that I use for my craft. I am planning to continue making my own hand dyed/painted threads, HDTs. In addition, I am planning to design my own fabric (either dyeing or printing) to be used for my own quilts and to be shared with my fellow crafters.

Zarina is generously giving away a fat quarter set of fabric which she has hand dyed using all the five colors used in her Garden’s Path HDT (in total 1 and quarter yards). She will also include a skein of the HDT in less than 50 yards with the FQ bundle. Check out more of her thread work here. (There will be one winner for this giveaway.)

This beautiful talent is definitely shop worthy, and is now available in her brand new Etsy shop.
Check out the talent behind some of the people behind her products in her flicker group here.
Could you imagine the possibilities with beautiful hand dyed fabric and threads. This is the type of craft that brings projects to life and makes them instant keepsakes to treasure forever.

Maybe Katie is like my long lost twin or something, Hey, I could dream right? After all we have so much in common.

Katie stops by our blog to tell us what she loves about the holidays.

Katie; I love the stillness of the holidays. Somehow even in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, there is a time embedded to pause and reflect. A time that doesn't seem to be present during other times of the year. I am so grateful for a season of conscious stepping beyond myself. I hope that as my girls begin to grow up they know the joy of serving others, the joy of reflecting, and the joy of stillness. And, of course, a good Christmas cookie!

Katie Has made these beautiful Vintage yo yo mobiles. (Liz and Christina, I so thought of you when I saw this... tee hee)
Made from recycled vintage sheets, these would look so pretty in any sewing room or even a child's room. The possibilities are endless. Her Husband even volunteered his expertise by helping her put together the branches to suspend the beautiful yo yo's. (Thank you Katie's Husband)
