Well I didn't have time to get a photo of the new fabric that came this week from Fabric hound, but I decided this week I wanted to show you the progress on my stash organizing project. I cannot decide if I want to color coordinate everything.
Do you think I should. I still have bins full of fabric but this project will be for the stuff I want on hand all the time. So should I separate all the colors? Right now its in stack by measurements. Half yards, or full. I did try to keep collections together though. Please help I am stuck on what to do. I also have way to many scraps still, so I plan on listing them in the store this week if I get some time.
I definitely have mine sorted by color. I think that helps the most when planning a quilt.
ReplyDeleteColor, color,color.....and i love to look at it when its separated by color....its like a beautiful rainbow.
ReplyDeleteAs a painter/artist, I have mine sorted by color. I have my tubes and bottles of paints sorted the same way.
ReplyDeleteFabric is a little harder. Where do you put the multi-colored fabrics that don't have a dominant color?
I sort primarily by color. I do, though, have categories for floral prints and other multi-colored prints that don't fit one color scheme or another.
ReplyDeleteMine is also sorted by color. I do have categories like Pat.
ReplyDeleteSounds like color is the winner. But I don't care, I'm too busy drooling!
ReplyDeleteI know I just finished redoing my stash, at least got everything out of all the bags and bins and folded. I would like to organize by color. I think I would keep some of the collections together. I did keep my fat quarters seperated. Doesn't it feel good. All I want to do now is just sit and look at all the pretty fabrics. lol
ReplyDeleteNice job. Hope yours stays that way cuz mine didn't....lol
ReplyDeleteI sort by color, and projects, I also have boxes of scraps that I could never put out, so to be honest, if I amamking something, it is fun to look through the boxes, I never know what I will find. I also keep all my Japanese fabric in one spot.
ReplyDeleteGet those scraps listed, I am sure you have things I need!!
Why didnt I shop right there?? :) wow thats a great stash!
ReplyDeletelove all your fabrics! I color coordinate mine as well, well I try to anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteI sort by fabric type, then by color...I keep all solids with solids...that way I can lay my fabric against the rainbow to find what works as a match. Beautiful collection!
ReplyDeleteI sort by color too -
ReplyDeleteActually, you can see everything you have in there - so that is really cool...I like the way it looks now...
I am so with you on how to organize. I have tried colors, collections and all else and am still not happy with what I have. Guess the only choice is less fabric and that is NOT satisfactory.
