We have arrived in Bakersfield California! Although I have not really been bothered by the heat yet, I know it's there. We have been inside quite a bit getting things organized and putting them in there places to restore a little order to our lives and get back into a routine. I think the warnings we were told about the heat had us a bit worried, but after 4 days we are fine with it. The heat here is much different then the pacific northwest. We had hot days on occasion that were so humid it felt sticky, to me that was the worst. Here it's more of a dry heat, so you get the sun and not a lot of the sticky feeling that comes with it. (mind you it's only been a few days ) This is what my living room currently looks like so you can see we have much work ahead of us before we actually get to enjoy the sunshine.
I also wanted to share my new space with you all. It's in progress still while I unpack boxes but expect to be sewing by tonight. I really miss my machine. I ended up taking the smaller of the two spaces for very good reasons though. The smaller room had more natural light for one; and there was this feeling that came over me that made me feel more creative, a feeling that I didn't have in the other room.
It looks pretty plain right now as I do not want to add anything permanently until I see how I would like to use the new space. I am hoping that after being in this room for a few months the colors and design will just come to me. Until then it will look pretty plain. I do like having my computer in the same room as my sewing though, that has been a time saver already.
The main part about this whole thing is that we are so so happy, it's been like heaven the last few days, everything is so peaceful and quiet (until the 2 YO wakes up) I hope that once we restore some order I can share my creative space with you again and have much more color and creativeness to share with you.
Do you have any ideas that will help me find decor options for this room? Flickr is always a great inspiration maybe start there ? .........
Until then, Happy Sewing.
