Chaos and My Creative Space

We have arrived in Bakersfield California! Although I have not really been bothered by the heat yet, I know it's there. We have been inside quite a bit getting things organized and putting them in there places to restore a little order to our lives and get back into a routine. I think the warnings we were told about the heat had us a bit worried, but after 4 days we are fine with it. The heat here is much different then the pacific northwest. We had hot days on occasion that were so humid it felt sticky, to me that was the worst. Here it's more of a dry heat, so you get the sun and not a lot of the sticky feeling that comes with it. (mind you it's only been a few days ) This is what my living room currently looks like so you can see we have much work ahead of us before we actually get to enjoy the sunshine.

I also wanted to share my new space with you all. It's in progress still while I unpack boxes but expect to be sewing by tonight. I really miss my machine. I ended up taking the smaller of the two spaces for very good reasons though. The smaller room had more natural light for one; and there was this feeling that came over me that made me feel more creative, a feeling that I didn't have in the other room.

It looks pretty plain right now as I do not want to add anything permanently until I see how I would like to use the new space. I am hoping that after being in this room for a few months the colors and design will just come to me. Until then it will look pretty plain. I do like having my computer in the same room as my sewing though, that has been a time saver already.

The main part about this whole thing is that we are so so happy, it's been like heaven the last few days, everything is so peaceful and quiet (until the 2 YO wakes up) I hope that once we restore some order I can share my creative space with you again and have much more color and creativeness to share with you.
Do you have any ideas that will help me find decor options for this room? Flickr is always a great inspiration maybe start there ? .........

Until then, Happy Sewing.

Goodbye's are Never forever!

I have been thinking about this post all day. How I was going to express the deep love I have for all my local friends here in the Portland/Vancouver area. I have lived here for 20 years, and in the last six months have found the reason why I am still here.

Good friends are very hard to come by. If you have them, never take them for granted. They will prove to be your rock when you really need them, the people who make you laugh when you just want to cry. The people who will make your day in any form possible just because. I have been blessed to know people like this both in my crafty life and beyond. I am very careful when I choose my friends, because I believe that the people you surround yourself with will also implicate your personality to others.

Last night a few of my friends put together a dinner that I will truly never forget. Cupcakes, Laughs, crafty goodies and lots of hugs. I will seriously fly my tail here on a regular basis to be a part of whatever they put together.
Although it's sad to leave my friends, I want you all to know that this is good for me, for us as a family. moving forward is a big part of living, something I have always been so scared to do. Challenges will come and go, but in the end everything will be better for our family. This is very important to me as well, the husband needs to be happy, as well as the little one to. This will make us all very happy!

To those of you I am leaving behind only for a short time until my next visit, I say keep doing whatever it is you do to make people want to be a part of your life. Suck people in the way you did to me, with your creative genius and laughter. Eat cupcakes all the time because you deserve it!

Thank you my friends, you will be missed, but we will see each other again very soon.
California here we come!

What a Week::We are moving

Well, I am sorry about being gone so long, as some of you know we are in the 20 days stretch for our move to Bakersfield California. I would love to tell you that I have been making cute fun crafty things all week, but unfortunately that is not the case. I have been catching up on shop orders, and the shop will be closing tonight.

I have also been doing a little destashing here  and here. (more to come as well)

I did receive some cool things from swaps this week as well. Jen, who actually lives around the area I am moving to sent me this fantastic set of Saffron Craig hexies. She went way above and beyond to grant me my hexie wishes. I am excited to meet here after we settle in a little first.

Then Corey over at little miss shabby sent me a little thank you gift for sending her some fabric she needed.
Completely unexpected, but so very much loved. I think I squealed with joy when I opened the package.

Last Monday Sophie had her first trip to the Oregon Zoo. Bliss hardly describes her expression she has a BIG  love for all the animals. She says her favorite was the Elephants .

I better sign off and start packing some boxes. I am pretty sad to leave such good friends here in the Portland area, but I know we will keep in touch and there are great things coming for our family.

Has anyone had a big move that they dreaded? Everything works out in the end I think, this will just be one fantastic adventure.

Happy Sewing.
